The beginning...Birchbox July 2014

Every good story begins with "Once upon a time..." This one may not be as compelling as a fairy tale, with dashing knights and brave princesses, but it is my story of a new adventure.

I do not know if anyone but me will ever read these posts. I am writing to document my venture into the world of subscription boxes and to keep track of what came when and if I ever end up using this stuff!

I had heard about Birchbox before and was intrigued but it took me more than a year to take the plunge and become a subscriber. As you will hear in the upcoming weeks, I have jumped in head first and am immersing myself (well, as much as my budget will allow) in subscription boxes. A Birchbox subscription is $10 a month and is supposed to include 4-6 samples of moderate to high end brands.

My first month of Birchbox was rather fun. I received-

Cynthia Rowley silver eyeliner- trial size (I really like this product!)
Harvey Prince Hello Body cream- trial size
Number 4 Super Comb and Protect
Supergoop! Daily Correct CC cream SPF 35- trial size
SmartyPants All in One Gummy Vitamins for Adults- sample size (I confess, this is not in the picture above. I ate them before I decided to begin this blog.)

I also received a card to mail in for a free one year subscription to Women's Health. I was considering giving this away to someone when I read the fine print. Did you all know that you can mail the card and your Birchbox subscription receipt to the address listed in that fine print and get a check for $9.99 if you don't want the magazine? Score! That just paid for the cost of my first Birchbox.

I have also read on other blogs and forums that you can fill out surveys on your Birchbox products to get points to be used in the Birchbox store. I dutifully filled out the reviews (they are super easy) and received 50 points, which apparently equals $5.00 towards Birchbox merchandise. I am a happy camper.

If you happen to stumble across this post, be assured you will be one of few. If you have taken the time to bear with me as I ramble and find my voice on this new blog, you have my thanks. Please feel free to say hello and let me know if there is anything I can do to improve or anything you think a blog like this should discuss.

In the spirit of full disclosure, the link above to Birchbox is a referral link. I get points if any of you decide to subscribe using it. Do I expect anyone to use it...well, not really, but a girl can hope!
